DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The Cape May County Library invites public to attend “The Story of Old Glory” presented by Jim Stephen of Historic Cold Spring Village at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9th. The program will take place at the Main Branch Library located at 30 Mechanic St. in Cape May Court House.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe Story of Old Glory is an interesting and engaging look at the most famous symbol of the United States, our nation's flag. The presentation examines three primary topics: the origins of the flag of the United States and Continental Congressman Francis Hopkinson of New Jersey, the man considered  the creator of its design; how a massive 30 foot by 42 foot American flag inspired our national anthem; and Captain William Driver, the man who coined the name "Old Glory."  A series of 3 foot by 5 foot replica historic flags are used to illustrate the presentation. The program is appropriate for both adults and children.=0D=0A=0D=0AHistoric Cold Spring Village is an Early American open-air living history museum. The museum consists of 26 restored antique buildings situated on a 30 acre wooded site where working craftsmen in period clothing portray South Jersey life during the “Age of Homespun”.  Also visit the Old Grange Restaurant by Tony Clark, the Country Store, Ice Cream Parlor, Bakery and farm animals.
