Fearless Watercolors for Beginners at the Sea Isle City Library

This class is for new painters or painters who have some basic experience. We work at a slow pace that is tailored for you. Learn about color theory, and how to get paper, paint, and water together without fear. Have some fun in a new experience. Give watercolor a chance!

Sue has been an artist in South Jersey for many years. She teaches at the Ocean City Arts Center and the Ocean City Fine Arts League. Rau shows her work at the OCAC, the OCFAL, the Riverfront Renaissance Arts Center, the Hammonton Arts Center, and now has a studio at The Consortium on High Street in Millville.

Required materials for this class include:
Paints: Burnt Sienna, Permanent Rose, Ultramarine Blue, and Aureolin or Grumbacher Yellow
Brushes: #8 Round, #12 Round, #1 Rigger or Liner, and Large Flat for washes
Paper: 140 lb. paper, drawing paper, tracing paper tablet
Additional: pencil, palette, water container, paper towels, masking tape, board or foam core, and kneaded eraser.

  • Attendee must be 18 Years or older.
  • All registrants must have library card in good standing. Many of the programs offered through the Cape May County Library require registration prior to the start of the program. Programs that require registration will be marked on the calendar (online and print), in press releases, and on promotional posters. To ensure fairness, patrons who fail to appear for three (3) programs/classes will not be eligible for first time registration for a period of six months. Rather, these patrons will automatically be placed on the waiting list. If an opening is available, the said patron will be notified that he or she can attend. If a patron cannot attend a program/class, it is his or her responsibility to alert the library via its online registration or telephone at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the start of the program/class. If proper notice of cancellation is given, then the patron will not be moved out of good standing.
