Event Type: Education Program
Age Group(s): Adult
Date: 4/11/2017
Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Time: 3:00 PM
Description:
 .
In this informative workshop, we will discuss the historical and recent demonstrations of Antisemitism in the United States. We will be showing the following two films produced and provided by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum: European Antisemitism from its Origins to the Holocaust and The Path to Genocide. Participants will receive a packet of information provided by Mr. Holden, which focuses on Antisemitism to be explored after the films. Topics include a definition of Antisemitism, the history of Antisemitism, the falsity of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, modern anti-Semitism, Nazi propaganda, the role of the Catholic Church in Pre-Nazi Antisemitism, and Pre-Nazi and Nazi Anti-Jewish measures.
Cape May County Library staff member and history graduate, Katherine Givens, will be sharing Shoah Project recorded interviews in which survivors discuss their experiences with Antisemitism during the Holocaust, and we plan to have at least one survivor attend the program who will discuss her personal experiences during the Holocaust. A discussion will follow each piece of the presentation as well as a question and answer period.

Mr. Robert F. Holden is a senior adjunct Professor of history at Atlantic Cape Community College whose subject of focus is Holocaust and Genocide Studies. He is also a committee member of the South Jersey Holocaust Coalition.

Class size is limited; therefore, registration and a valid library card are needed to attend. Registration opens on Monday, March 6th at 9:00 a.m. For additional information, please call 463-6386 or visit online at www.cmclibrary.org.
