Description:
This ten week course will help you take the next step from writing your memoir to creating a film. Using Macs and iMovie software provided by the library, you will be guided through the steps of interviewing for oral history, finding and preparing photos, editing footage and titles, and adding music and voice over to your video. While 20 hours will be enough to get you started, it is hoped that students will continue their work further.
Students should bring a 16GB flash drive to the class each week to save their work.
Instructor Jim Talone has been working as a teacher of video since the old analog days and has seen his students go on to Hollywood and Television production across the country. Since his retirement, he has produced numerous documentary videos which have been shown at The Cape May Film Festival, SNJtoday and local museums.

  • All registrants must have library card in good standing. Many of the programs offered through the Cape May County Library require registration prior to the start of the program. Programs that require registration will be marked on the calendar (online and print), in press releases, and on promotional posters. To ensure fairness, patrons who fail to appear for three (3) programs/classes will not be eligible for first time registration for a period of six months. Rather, these patrons will automatically be placed on the waiting list. If an opening is available, the said patron will be notified that he or she can attend. If a patron cannot attend a program/class, it is his or her responsibility to alert the library via its online registration or telephone at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the start of the program/class. If proper notice of cancellation is given, then the patron will not be moved out of good standing.
