Lunch and Learn: Natural Ways to Beat the Holiday Blues

Event Type: Holiday
Age Group(s): Adult
Date: 12/1/2017
Start Time: 12:00 PM
End Time: 1:00 PM
The holidays are a time of rejoicing, giving thanks, and reconnecting with family members and friends. It's a time of year where the magic is practically tangible, and people expect to experience some degree of happiness and comfort. And yet, for many people, the holidays tend to bring out the proverbial "grinch." Daily living is stressful enough, but something about the season tends to add an extra dose of anxiety, fatigue, and irritability.
If you're one of the millions of Americans who experience some degree of the "holiday blues," or perhaps you're among the many who are always looking for ways to enhance mental well-being, then you may find this presentation very helpful. I will be discussing how to combat stress and anxiety in a two-fold manner: by avoiding certain "triggers" and introducing safe, holistic therapies that promote a heightened sense of well-being.
In this lecture we will discuss "Triggers" for holiday stress and mild depression, Mindfulness and the mind-body connection, proper sleep habits, foods and supplements that fight depression, common ways that depression is misdiagnosed, and what to do if you canít bounce back.
