Upon graduating from the FBI Academy, newly minted Special Agent James “Fitz” Fitzgerald heads to his first office – New York City. Once there, Fitz is immediately assigned to the highly- respected Bank Robbery Squad. The investigations begin. Before long, he’s involved in the arrest of serial killers, murderers, robbers, kidnappers, extortionists, and pedophiles (including a fellow FBI agent), all on his way to a promotion to Quantico to the Profiling Unit. Fitz’s first assignment as a profiler is to the Unabomber Task Force in San Francisco. Once there, he helps finally solve the 17-year long investigation…with language, of all things.

Jim Fitzgerald remains an active criminal profiler and forensic linguist, even after retiring in 2007 with 20 years in the FBI as a Supervisory Special Agent, along with 11 years before that as a police officer/detective/sergeant on the Bensalem Twp. (PA) Police Dept. During his law enforcement career he successfully investigated numerous homicides, sexual assaults, and other violent crimes, as well as matters of international notoriety to include the Unabomber, Anthrax, Jon Benet Ramsey, and DC Sniper cases as a profiler and/or a forensic linguist.

Jim is a proud graduate of Penn State University (LEC, ’75). He holds a M.S. in Human Organizational Science at Villanova University and also an M.S. in Linguistics at Georgetown University. Today, Jim serves as adjunct professor at Hofstra University and the Richard Stockton University of NJ.

Jim is one of two technical advisors for CBS-TV’s Criminal Minds and is co-host and executive producer of A&E’s Killer Profile. He is one of several renowned experts on CBS television’s four-hour documentary series The Case of: Jon Benet Ramsey (2016). In addition, Jim’s role in solving the Unabomber investigation will be highlighted in Discovery Channel’s scripted mini-series Manhunt: The Unabomber, airing over two months and premiering on August 1, 2017. The actor Sam Worthington has been cast in the role of Jim Fitzgerald.
