This local author event describes the life and travels of Marilyn Bhadrena Restione. The book “My Oyster” is about falling in love with the world, of feeling the excitement of discovering different places and people, of learning and growing from each experience. Not your usual travel guide, it describes the enjoyment of finding a Neolithic village on the edge of the North Sea, of staying in a convent on the edge of Rome’s Circus Maximus, living for a while in an Indian Ashram, resting in a Greek grotto on Crete or walking with Chaucer’s bawdy pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. It is the story of one woman discovering how large and varied the world can be.
Marilyn Bhadrena Restione lives with a crazy dog in a small house on the edge of her beloved Atlantic Ocean. Born in 1928 she has played many roles in her life; inquisitive child, free-ranging adolescent, teacher, 'Stepford Wife', mother of three exceptional children, widow and at the age of 84, writer. Her first book, "A Treasure Hunt" explored that journey.
