Learn how to paint beautiful South Jersey landscapes in pastel. This course will cover the many elements of our unique environment, such as the marshes, waterways, and colorful skies. Learn about the different types of pastels and papers/surfaces you can use. Explore a variety of underpainting techniques to breathe life into your paintings. Students will work from their own favorite photographs. All experience levels are welcome.
Renee, born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, has been a South Jersey resident since 2002. From early childhood, she has been painting, drawing and creating. She has developed her skills and continues learning through a combination of art classes, workshops, independent study, and painting with other local artists. Renee participates in many local art exhibits and competitions, and she has received awards for her works in pastel and charcoal.
Attendees will need to bring the following supplies: small variety of hard and soft drawing pencils (4H, 2B, HB, etc); white eraser; selection of soft pastels; pastel paper (such as Uart 400-500 grit sanded paper); a large drawing board or foam core; easel (if preferred over tabletop); artists’ tape or clips; wet wipes and/or plastic gloves; stiff bristle paint brush; and some photographs you would like to use from your own stock.
